Fly-Tipping in the village

🚯 Please Don’t Fly-Tip – Let’s Keep Kilsby Clean & Safe

Kilsby Parish Council would like to remind residents that fly-tipping is illegal, harmful, and entirely avoidable. By working together, we can protect our village’s countryside, lanes, and shared spaces for everyone.

What Is Fly-Tipping?

Fly-tipping is the illegal dumping of waste such as:

  • Household rubbish
  • Garden waste
  • Furniture or mattresses
  • Builders’ materials
  • Electrical items

This often happens on verges, footpaths, gateways, and quiet lanes — places we all use and value.

⚠️ Why Fly-Tipping Is a Serious Problem

Fly-tipping:

  • ❗ Puts people and wildlife at risk
  • 💰 Costs public money to clear up
  • 🌱 Damages the local environment
  • 😞 Makes our village look uncared for

⚖️ The Legal Consequences

Fly-tipping is a criminal offence. Those caught can face:

  • Unlimited fines
  • Prosecution
  • A criminal record
  • Vehicle seizure in serious cases

If you use someone else to remove waste, you are still responsible for ensuring it is disposed of legally.

Legal Ways to Dispose of Waste

There are simple, legal alternatives:

  • Use your local household waste recycling centre
  • Arrange bulky waste collection
  • Hire a licensed waste carrier (always ask for their licence details)
  • Reduce, reuse, or donate items where possible

👀 See Fly-Tipping?

If you spot fly-tipping:

Prompt reporting helps keep Kilsby clean and prevents repeat incidents.

💚 Let’s Take Pride in Our Village

Kilsby is a place people care about. By disposing of waste responsibly and reporting fly-tipping, we help protect our environment and show pride in our community.

Thank you for your cooperation and continued support.
